All submissions undergo similarity detection using standard plagiarism-screening tools prior to peer review.

Plagiarism Screening

Plagiarism Screening Policy

Unveiling Seven Continents Yearbook Journal (U7Y Journal) maintains a strict anti-plagiarism policy to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics.

Tool Used

All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using professional similarity-detection software such as iThenticate or Turnitin. The screening process identifies textual similarities and potential overlap with previously published sources to ensure the originality of every submission.

Stages of Screening

  • Initial Submission: Each manuscript is checked upon receipt. Submissions showing excessive similarity are returned to authors for revision before entering peer review.

  • Pre-Acceptance Stage: Revised or resubmitted manuscripts are re-checked prior to final acceptance to confirm that originality has been maintained.

Similarity Thresholds

  • Below 10 % (excluding references and quotations): Considered acceptable; the manuscript proceeds to peer review.

  • 10 % – 15 %: Returned to authors with a request to revise and reduce similarity.

  • Above 15 %: May be rejected or subject to further editorial investigation.

Author Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that their submissions are entirely original, that all sources are properly cited, and that their work is free from unethical practices such as self-plagiarism, redundant publication, or manipulation of data. All authors share responsibility for the integrity and authenticity of their contributions.

Post-Publication Action

If plagiarism or self-plagiarism is detected after publication, U7Y Journal will act in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. Depending on the severity, the Editorial Board may issue a correction, expression of concern, or a formal retraction. All retraction notices remain permanently accessible and linked to the original article.

Transparency and Ethical Compliance

U7Y Journal follows the ethical principles outlined by COPE. Similarity reports may be shared with authors or reviewers when necessary to ensure a transparent and fair evaluation process. Standard methodological phrases, bibliographic references, and properly cited quotations are excluded from similarity calculations.
